Back to the Future - Episode 2

The second episode of Telltale’s Back to the Future adventure game became available. We’ve already given our feelings on the first superb installment. Since this is, after all, an episode, much of the game is identical to its predecessor, so this review will be primarily focused on where it differs. Also, if you haven’t played the first episode, there may be spoilers within, so be forewarned.

Back to the Future is a film franchise that seems like a perfect fit for an adventure game; while the movies had some incredible action in them there was also an emphasis on solving problems in creative ways. With this in mind, Telltale Games has stepped up to offer the first in a series of episodic games based on the films and they’ve done pretty well. Extremely similar in play-style to their Sam & Max and Tales of Monkey Island games, players will find that the main reason to get this is to enjoy a BTTF-themed story.

The focus of the game is the control of the your own tank, but the ability to command a number of attached units (armour, vehicles and infantry up to platoon strength) is given through the use of a command and navigation map.
